Visitors Centre. Free admission. Come and see how New Zealand's only oil refinery works. A 130sqm scale model and dramatic 20-minute light and sound show reveal the innermost workings of this impressive site. Also photographs and another model show the refinery-to-Auckland pipeline. An educational and entertaining half hour - well worth a visit. Visitor Centre is open from 10am-5pm daily (closed Christmas Day, Boxing Day and Good Friday). 1/33 scale model and new audio-visual displays. Follow SH 1 north of Auckland, turn right to Ruakaka and head for the coast.
