Wairoa Accommodation and Attractions
Wairoa Information
Wairoa town is 'apparently' very drull, but this is not the case, no matter what people tell you. It is mostly untouched by development and everthing seems stuck in a timewarp of the 1950's where small shops still lined the streets and everyone knows each other, and round two of the bridge championships makes it onto the front of the news papaer (The Wairoa Star Times).
Wairoa really is "The way New Zealand used to be" as the sign tells you as you enter the town. For those who want there own cultural experience and dont like artificial Rotorua, Wairoa is the perfect option.
The town has a few boutique shops that are owner-operated and the town is virtually untouched by large chain stores.
Wairoa is a great base to explore parts of the East Coast. It is very near to Mahia Peninsula famed for its surfing, sand and absolutly classic holidays.
