Named after the nearby Mount Te Aroha, Te Aroha is a strong dairy farming community and a growing tourism location.The town has historically been well known for its thermal springs and is notable for the only bicarbonate geyser in the world which was formed during drilling for additional hot water supplies in the 1930s.
